World Tennis Tour Junior Year-End Finals Concludes

On October 20, the 2024 ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals concluded in Chengdu, China. After five intense days of competition, Dutch player Mis Rotgering and Australian player Emerson Jones emerged victorious, claiming the top honors.

Emerson Jones, currently ranked number one in the world junior women’s singles, faced off against Czech player Laura Samson in the final. Jones secured the championship with a straight-set victory, winning 6-4, 6-4.

“I honestly didn’t expect to win the championship before the match. Chengdu not only fulfilled my dream of becoming a champion but also my dream of seeing giant pandas,” Jones reflected after the match. She acknowledged the legacy of excellence in this tournament, mentioning how many outstanding professional players have participated in the past. “I intend to follow in their footsteps and play each match to the best of my ability.”

In the boys’ singles final, the 2024 US Open junior champion, Spain’s Rafael Yodal, competed against Mis Rotgering from the Netherlands. Rotgering triumphed in a hard-fought match, winning 6-4, 7-6(2).

“This is my first time in China, and the people here are incredibly friendly. I’ve enjoyed every moment,” Rotgering stated post-match. He expressed his aspirations of advancing further in his professional career.
