The 10th Annual Academic Conference of the Tibet Autonomous Region Federation of Social Sciences was held in Lhasa
The 10th Academic Annual Conference of the Tibet Autonomous Region Social Science Federation took place in Lhasa from October 26 to 27. This year’s theme focused on the issues of “Population, Public Sentiment, and Talent” in relation to the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist New Tibet, aiming to contribute academic insights and unite scholarly efforts.
During the opening ceremony, Li Xiaoning, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Tibet Academy of Social Sciences, as well as the Chairman of the Social Science Federation, emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of the population, unifying public sentiment, and nurturing exceptional talent. He noted that these factors are foundational for achieving the ambitious goals outlined in the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party, establishing a strong socialist modern country, and promoting stability and high-quality development in Tibet. He urged social science scholars to leverage the annual conference to produce high-level research findings, develop a discourse network that reflects the unique characteristics of Tibet, and effectively share the story of Tibet within the broader context of China.
In his speech, Jin Yongbing, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Tibet University, called for the social sciences to establish an independent knowledge system in China. He advocated for a philosophical and social science framework that is both distinctly Chinese and globally influential. Jin encouraged researchers to commit to long-term engagement in specific areas, actively seek international collaboration, and adopt new theories, paradigms, and methodologies to generate innovative results.
