Special program of large-scale international cooperation documentary series -Dialogue with ASEAN- launched
On October 11th, a special episode of the large-scale international cooperation documentary series “Dialogue with ASEAN” aired on Dragon TV. Set against the backdrop of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the Belt and Road Initiative, the program highlights the fruitful outcomes of China-ASEAN cooperation across five key areas: social, economic, ecological, technological, and cultural exchanges.
This documentary is a collaborative effort guided by the Asian Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Cooperation Department of the National Radio and Television Administration, and the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Radio and Television. Academic support was provided by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, while the documentary production was handled by the Ao Xue Studio of the Shanghai Broadcasting Television Station’s Documentary Center. The production team traveled to various locations, including Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, to conduct interviews and film compelling visuals that narrate the story of friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
The documentary features a variety of case studies, touching on initiatives like the New International Land-Sea Corridor, the China-ASEAN Framework, and the China-ASEAN Elite Scholarship Program. It also delves into grassroots exchanges between non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and universities. Notable examples include the Hong Kong Shared Foundation collaborating with local medical teams to provide free cataract surgeries in multiple ASEAN nations, and experts from the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics Conservation aiding in the renovation of pagodas in Bagan, Myanmar.
Additionally, an English version of the documentary’s special episode is set to be launched on mainstream media platforms within the ASEAN region.
