Shanghai and Hong Kong deepen cooperation and multiple projects land in Pudong, Shanghai
On October 15th, during the “Innovation Leads to a Win-Win Future” conference focused on high-quality development and collaboration between Shanghai and Hong Kong, several cooperation projects were officially launched in Pudong.
Officials emphasized their commitment to further enhancing collaboration in various fields such as trade, industry, technology, culture, and professional services among research institutions, universities, associations, and businesses from both regions.
In a notable development at the event, the Pudong Hong Kong “Silk Road E-Commerce” Service Alliance was established. This alliance aims to support high-level openness and promote the growth of Silk Road e-commerce by enlisting experts from various fields to provide comprehensive consulting, information services, national guidance, and industry analysis to businesses in both regions looking to expand internationally.
To better support young innovators and entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese in Pudong, several service centers and innovation bases were announced at the conference. These include the Pudong New Area Hong Kong and Macau Youth Service Center, the Pudong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, and the Pudong branch of the Pudong Hong Kong Technology Achievement Transformation Research Institute. These institutions will provide a “one-stop” policy service to help young entrepreneurs navigate their ventures.
梁传昕, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Biotechnology Association, noted that there is a complementary advantage in the development of the biopharmaceutical industry between Hong Kong and Pudong. He believes that if Hong Kong’s universities leverage their research strengths and combine them with the robust ecosystem and industrial chain in Pudong’s biopharmaceutical sector, it could significantly assist Hong Kong’s biotech companies in their incubation and growth processes.
Additionally, Li Yuling, a senior partner at Shanghai Hanjun Law Firm, highlighted the potential for Shanghai law firms to provide “one-stop” cross-border legal services, particularly in assisting Chinese companies looking to expand internationally, by strengthening cooperation and communication with their counterparts in Hong Kong.
