Starting today, the registration for the 2025 Civil Service Examination for central government agencies and their directly affiliated institutions is officially open.
This year, the national examination aims to recruit a total of 39,700 candidates, an increase from last year. Notably, there are plans to specifically recruit 26,700 recent college graduates, alongside 27,500 positions to bolster county-level and below institutions. This recruitment strategy continues to prioritize grassroots positions and recent graduates.
Registration will be open from October 15th at 8:00 AM until October 24th at 6:00 PM. According to the National Civil Service Administration, candidates can log onto the “2025 Civil Service Recruitment Examination Website” during this period to apply online.
The application review process will take place from October 15th at 8:00 AM to October 26th at 6:00 PM, where applicants will be assessed for their eligibility. They can check the results of this eligibility review on the specialized website. Candidates who pass the review will need to confirm their online registration and pay fees from November 1st at midnight to November 6th at 11:59 PM.
The public subject examination is set for December 1st, taking place simultaneously in major cities across the country. The administrative professional ability test will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the essay examination from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. For certain positions requiring language proficiency, testing will occur on November 30th.
In prioritizing grassroots recruitment, nearly 70% of the roles will be dedicated to recent college graduates and positions aimed at enhancing services in county-level and lower institutions. The government has set aside 26,700 positions specifically for new graduates to support their transition into the workforce.
Additionally, over 3,000 roles have been established for those who have completed military service for more than five years, encouraging a talent influx into grassroots roles and national defense initiatives.
For the first time, the administrative professional ability exam will include a “Political Theory” section, aimed at evaluating candidates’ capacity to apply innovative party theories for problem-solving. The examination will comprehensively assess candidates’ moral character, capabilities, diligence, achievements, and integrity, with a strong focus on political qualifications.
The National Civil Service Administration has reinforced that political standards are the foremost criteria for selection. They are committed to a merit-based approach that emphasizes both character and competence while adhering to the principle that political compliance is essential for eligibility.
Furthermore, the exam will feature a carefully structured format tailored to different job categories and institutional levels. This includes a focus on theoretical reasoning and comprehensive analysis for central agencies, as well as practical implementation and service orientation for lower-tier institutions.
Interview formats and content will be determined by hiring agencies according to the specific needs of the positions. Some agencies will evaluate candidates’ professional competencies during different examination stages, with 13 departments organizing specialized tests during the written portion and 48 during the interviews.
