PDP Labels APC A ‘Monumental Failure,’ Calls Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa ‘Confused’
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). You’ve recently referred to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “monumental failure.” Can you elaborate on that?
**Ologunagba:** Certainly. The economic hardships faced by Nigerians under the APC’s rule are undeniable. Their policies have created a challenging environment for our citizens, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s comments only reflect a deeper confusion within his own party. He lacks clear plans and programs to address these issues effectively.
**Interviewer:** In light of the upcoming governorship election on November 16, what message do you have for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)?
**Ologunagba:** We urge INEC to ensure a fair election process. We’ve raised concerns about the current commissioner in Ondo State, who has ties to several APC leaders. We’re uncomfortable with this, and we want a transparent process that the public can trust and support.
**Interviewer:** Governor Aiyedatiwa has claimed that the PDP is no longer a viable party in Ondo State. How do you respond to that assertion?
**Ologunagba:** His remarks are simply hallucinations. The real challenge for him lies within the APC. The party is fractured; it’s a “broken home” as I like to call it. Many of their members see the reality and have defected to the PDP. Aiyedatiwa’s claims about the PDP’s demise are unfounded.
**Interviewer:** You’ve also touched upon the sentiment of Ondo voters. What do you see as their position going into this election?
**Ologunagba:** The people of Ondo State are resolute and strong-willed. They have recognized the APC’s monumental failings, and they are determined to make their voices heard on November 16. They know what needs to be done.
**Interviewer:** Moving on to party matters, what can you tell us about the situation regarding local government elections in Rivers State?
**Ologunagba:** There haven’t been any decisions made by Mr. Damagum concerning that issue. There’s been some disagreement, but no formal suspension has occurred. It’s essential to focus on the collective rather than individual actions, as no single person controls our party.
**Interviewer:** Looking at the broader picture, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has mentioned that the people of the South-West will not support the APC in the next elections, citing economic hardships. Do you agree with this perspective?
**Ologunagba:** Absolutely. Governor Makinde is spot on. The Yoruba people have learned from their past mistakes in supporting President Bola Tinubu during the last elections. The South-West is gearing up to show its true colors in the upcoming polls, particularly in Ondo State, where we expect to reclaim significant support.
**Interviewer:** Recent statements from APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje suggest confidence in the party’s hold over the South-West. How do you evaluate that claim?
**Ologunagba:** Talk is easy, but actions speak louder. The people of Ondo State will express their sentiments clearly during the election, and it will resonate throughout the nation. The PDP is ready to prove its dominance once again.
**Interviewer:** It seems the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State will be a pivotal moment for both parties. What’s at stake?
**Ologunagba:** This election will indeed be a litmus test for both the APC and the PDP. It will provide insights into the political landscape of the South-West leading up to the 2027 general elections. We are confident in our ability to connect with the voters and reflect their needs and aspirations.
