Li Qiang meets with Prime Minister Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan_1
On October 15, during the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Islamabad, Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a meeting with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov.
During their discussion, Premier Li emphasized that during a meeting held in Astana this past July, President Xi Jinping and President Japarov outlined plans for building a closer China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future and for advancing cooperation between the two nations to new heights. He expressed China’s willingness to strengthen coordination with Kyrgyzstan, adhering to the strategic guidance from their leaders and pushing for deeper cooperation across various fields to foster mutual development and prosperity.
Li further stated that China looks forward to viewing and developing bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. He underscored the importance of mutual support and becoming reliable partners in each other’s development and revitalization. China aims to promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, enhance connectivity, expedite infrastructure development at border crossings, boost trade and investment, and expand collaboration in emerging sectors such as renewable energy, cross-border e-commerce, big data, and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on achieving tangible results. Additionally, both sides are encouraged to deepen cultural exchanges in areas like tourism, education, and health, to ensure that the friendship between the two nations is passed down through generations. Li expressed a commitment to fulfilling the outcomes of last year’s China-Central Asia Summit and strengthening communication and collaboration within the SCO framework, promoting the “Shanghai Spirit” for greater regional peace and stability.
Prime Minister Japarov acknowledged the long-standing friendship between Kyrgyzstan and China, highlighting the close high-level exchanges and the fruitful economic and trade cooperation. He expressed gratitude for China’s support in the economic and social development of Kyrgyzstan and reiterated the Kyrgyz government’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with China. Japarov looked forward to jointly implementing the important consensus reached by their leaders, aligning development strategies, and deepening cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly in areas like the Kyrgyz-China-Uzbekistan railway, infrastructure development, connectivity, finance, mining, education, and tourism. He conveyed Kyrgyzstan’s strong support for President Xi’s vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the three global initiatives, expressing a willingness to strengthen multilateral cooperation and promote collaboration between China and Central Asian countries for regional peace and prosperity.
