Latest rankings- Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha rank first in the world in men’s and women’s singles respectively
The International Table Tennis Federation has released its world rankings for Week 43 of 2024 today, October 22.
In men’s singles, the top five players from China dominate the rankings, with Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Fan Zhendong, Liang Jingkun, and Ma Long taking the lead. Lin Gaoyuan follows in ninth place.
Alex Lebrun, the men’s singles champion at the European Table Tennis Championships, saw his ranking rise by three spots to 16th. Benedict Duda, the runner-up, jumped six places to 22nd, marking a new career high. Meanwhile, Oceania Championships men’s singles champion, Pei Huan, surged an impressive 579 positions to claim the 53rd spot, also achieving a personal best. Vytas Eash, who finished as runner-up at the Pan American Table Tennis Championships, advanced 27 places to 51st. Lin Yun-Ju also moved up one spot to re-enter the top ten, now ranked 10th. Other players from the Chinese team include Xiang Peng, ranked 26th.
In women’s singles, Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, Chen Meng, and Wang Yidi hold the top four positions, while Chen Xingtong ranks sixth.
Sofia Polcanova, the women’s singles champion at the European Championships, improved her ranking by two spots to 12th. Fourth-place finisher Xiao Yaqian made an impressive leap of 22 places to rank 50th, achieving a career best. Sabine Winter, who reached the quarterfinals, moved up ten ranks to 48th. Additionally, the women’s singles champion from the Oceania Championships, Chi Min-Hyung, climbed 16 positions to sit at 43rd.
Other notable rankings for the Chinese team include Qian Tianyi at 21st, Shi Xunyao at 32nd, Fan Siqi at 35th, He Zhuojia at 41st, and Chen Yi at 44th.
