Greater Bay Area Chaoqing rides back to Shantou to welcome the -Two Major Events- of Chaozhou merchants
On October 26th, the riding event “Riding Home Together: Youth Journey to Shantou” was launched in Guangzhou, welcoming the upcoming 22nd International Teochew Association Annual Conference and the 10th World Teochew Business Conference. Local youth riders from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area set off from the Guangzhou International Media Port, making their way towards Shantou’s East Coast.
According to the organizers, the two major events will take place in Shantou on November 18. The riding event is jointly organized by the Youth Committee of the Guangdong Overseas Teochew Association and the Shantou Municipal Youth League, with support from the Youth League Committees of Jieyang and Shanwei. More than thirty representatives from Teochew associations in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Dongguan, and Jiangmen participated in the event.
Leading the cycling team is Wang Wei, a torchbearer from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, who has extensive cycling experience. He explained that the team would ride from Guangzhou, passing through Huizhou, Shanwei, and Jieyang, using a “cycling and bus connection” model. They plan to ride along the scenic routes of the Guang-Shan area and promote the two major events at significant checkpoints, ultimately reaching Shantou’s East Coast, the venue for the conferences.
In a bid to garner more attention and support for the two major events, the organizers have prepared a “Praise Flag” to collect “handmade likes” from friends along the route, which will be presented to the conference organizers at the end.
Zhang Haohui, the overall planner and Executive Vice President of the Guangdong Overseas Teochew Association, remarked that the upcoming events in Shantou mark a significant gathering for Teochews from around the globe. The youth of the Greater Bay Area are taking proactive steps to promote and embrace these events with their youthful energy.
