By 2025, Beijing Shijingshan’s humanoid robot core industry revenue will strive to exceed 1 billion yuan
On October 14, in an announcement from Shijingshan District in Beijing, it was revealed that the district has officially released two key documents: the “Action Plan for Human-Robot Industry Development in Shijingshan District (2024-2025)” and the “Implementation Plan for Human-Robot Industry Development in Shijingshan District (2024).” The initiative aims to gather 30 key enterprises in the human-robot sector by the end of 2025, achieve breakthroughs in more than seven critical technologies related to humanoid robots, and establish over four industrial service platforms. These efforts are expected to significantly expand the application scenarios for humanoid robots, with the target of exceeding 1 billion yuan in revenue for the core industry.
As humanoid robot technology accelerates its evolution, it has become a new frontier in technological competition, a fresh path for future industries, and a driving force for economic development. Currently, Shijingshan District has already attracted 16 enterprises across various segments of the humanoid robot industry, covering everything from the “brain” to the “body” and “limb” manufacturing, creating an environment of complementary technologies and collaborative development.
To overcome critical technical barriers, the district plans to implement innovative mechanisms such as “challenge-based leadership,” focusing on key technologies like embodied AI, bio-inspired lightweight design, whole-body coordinated motion control, and dexterous manipulation. The emphasis will also be placed on the research and commercialization of essential components such as high-precision sensors and electric-driven joints. By integrating cutting-edge technologies from artificial intelligence and large models, Shijingshan aims to enhance the autonomous decision-making and execution capabilities of robots in complex environments.
In terms of nurturing industrial clusters, Shijingshan District intends to leverage key areas like the Shougang Winter Olympic Plaza to create a hub for industrial concentration. This initiative will promote the deep integration of embodied intelligence and hardware manufacturing, establishing a virtuous cycle of technology research and practical application.
Furthermore, the humanoid robot sector will be regarded as a vital part of the broader artificial intelligence industry, where breakthroughs in large models will spur development in humanoid robots. In turn, this concentration of the humanoid robot industry will provide more training data and application scenarios for large models. Plans are also in place to develop synergies with distinctive industries such as the sci-fi metaverse, industrial internet, and virtual reality.
Exploring application scenarios is critical for realizing these technologies. Shijingshan District aims to promote humanoid robots across multiple domains, including industry, healthcare, elder care, and finance, to create new intelligent service scenarios. For instance, expanding the application of humanoid robots in automatic assembly, material handling, surgical assistance, and senior care is expected to enhance the quality of life for citizens and improve industrial production efficiency. Additionally, the district plans to explore the practical applications of these robots in emergency rescue and other specialized fields to facilitate their use in extreme environments.
