In the first three quarters, China’s imports and exports to other BRICS countries increased by 5.1% year-on-year.

On October 14, the General Administration of Customs of China released new data indicating that for the first three quarters of the year, China’s trade with other BRICS nations reached 4.62 trillion yuan, marking a 5.1% increase from the previous year.

According to official statistics, in the industrial sector, China’s exports of intermediate goods such as steel and textile raw materials to other BRICS countries saw increases of 8.6% and 13.4%, respectively. Imports from these nations, including metal ores and methanol, rose significantly by 14.4% and 34.3% year-on-year. During the same period, exports of integrated circuits, flat panel display modules, and aircraft parts to other BRICS countries all attained double-digit growth.

In agriculture, over 80% of the poultry and frozen cod fish imported by China in the first three quarters came from other BRICS nations, as well as more than 50% of crab imports. Moreover, exports of agricultural machinery, pesticides, and herbicides to these countries increased by over 20% compared to the previous year, contributing positively to local agricultural production and development. Notably, more than one-third of China’s imported potassium chloride fertilizer also originated from other BRICS countries, playing a constructive role in enhancing domestic agricultural productivity.

Wang Lingjun, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Customs, emphasized at a press conference that as the “Big BRICS Cooperation” continues to expand and deepen, economic and trade collaboration between China and BRICS countries will become increasingly robust and fruitful.
