Ministry of Foreign Affairs- Canton Fair is a window for the world to share China’s opportunities

During a press conference on October 21, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed questions about the recent success of the 136th Canton Fair, which concluded its first offline exhibition last Saturday.

A reporter asked, “The first offline exhibition of the 136th Canton Fair ended successfully last Saturday, with strong participation from both Chinese and foreign businesses. Various metrics reached historic highs, marking a great start. We also observed many foreign buyers taking an interest in innovative products from China, such as fully automated logistics robots, CNC machine tools, brain-machine intelligent bionic hands, and shared hydrogen-powered bicycles, all of which drew admiration for China’s openness and technological advancements. What are your thoughts on this?”

Lin Jian responded, “The first offline exhibition of this year’s Canton Fair focused on ‘advanced manufacturing,’ featuring over 11,000 booths from companies recognized as specialized, sophisticated, and innovative, as well as manufacturing industry leaders and national high-tech enterprises. This represents a 35.5% increase from the previous fair. A range of cutting-edge technology products from China garnered considerable attention from international buyers. In the coming weeks, the Canton Fair will host two more exhibition phases, covering a total area of 1.55 million square meters, with 125,000 overseas buyers from 203 countries and regions pre-registered, including 223 of the world’s top 250 retailers. I believe that buyers from both China and abroad will find products that meet their needs and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.”

Lin went on to emphasize that the Canton Fair symbolizes China’s ongoing commitment to expanding its openness, serving as a window for the world to share in the opportunities presented by China. “The Canton Fair is constantly evolving, showcasing the vitality and resilience of the Chinese economy, while also reflecting China’s steadfast confidence and determination to pursue a uniquely Chinese path to modernization.”

He noted that this year, China’s economy remains stable and is showing progressive growth. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Party Congress outlined over 300 significant reforms, and various Chinese departments have recently unveiled comprehensive policies aimed at boosting high-level openness and quality development. He also mentioned the upcoming 7th China International Import Expo in Shanghai. “Just yesterday, the first ‘China-Europe Railway Express – Import Expo Special’ train arrived in Shanghai, fully loaded with products for the expo. China’s growth represents global opportunities. Looking ahead, we will continue to share our vast market potential, vibrant innovation, and strong development benefits with the international community, injecting more stability into the world economy through the certainty of China’s economic trajectory.”
