Xining Cultural Tourism and Agricultural Products Promotion Conference held in Beijing
At a recent promotional event in Xining, the city’s Vegetable Technology Service Center researcher, Kong Xiaoping, shared some exciting developments. “Currently, we have 100 different vegetable varieties in Xining. We’re tackling technological advancements across the entire supply chain, including seed innovation, disease control, and testing,” he stated.
The event, themed “The Snow Leopard City – A Pearl of the Plateau,” included the launch of Xining’s unique agricultural products on the People’s Daily online platform and marked the inauguration of the “Yeah! Life” segment dedicated to Xining.
Capitalizing on its ecological strengths and rich cultural resources, Xining has chosen the snow leopard as a symbol of its urban identity. The presence of Qi Xinzhang, deputy director of the Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center and head of the science education and outreach department at Xining Botanical Garden, served as an exemplary promotion for the “Snow Leopard City.”
In addition to showcasing local wildlife, Xining is also rapidly expanding its range of “Qing” branded agricultural products, which include highland vegetables, yak ribs, and seabuckthorn puree. The city continues to leverage its capital city advantages to open up new pathways for these products to reach broader markets.
Looking ahead, researcher Zhuang Feiyun from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences emphasized that upgrading the agricultural product landscape is essential. “We need to enhance technological empowerment and focus on industry-driven problems while strengthening research and development. Moreover, we must cultivate a new generation of farmers who can lead rural revitalization,” he noted.
The promotional event also featured traditional folk performances, leaving attendees with a deeper appreciation for Xining and its rich cultural background.
