Ding Xuexiang meets with representatives of foreign scientists attending the 2024 World Science, Technology and Development Forum
On October 23, 2023, in Beijing, Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council, met with representatives of foreign scientists attending the 2024 World Forum on Science and Development.
During the meeting, Ding emphasized the urgent need for deepening international exchanges and cooperation to drive sustainable development through technological innovation. He remarked that such efforts align with the expectations of people worldwide and the global science community. In a complex international environment, China is committed to openness and collaboration. Ding stated, “We will unyieldingly advocate for and practice the principles of open, equitable, just, and non-discriminatory international scientific cooperation. We strive to promote joint efforts in addressing significant scientific challenges, create an ecosystem for open innovation, and facilitate the sharing of scientific achievements to better benefit humanity.”
At the meeting, twelve scientists from the United States, Europe, and other countries spoke in support of open collaboration. They expressed their eagerness to deepen exchanges with China and to work together on innovative solutions that contribute to global sustainable development.
