Sun Yat-sen Medical New York Alumni Association Mid-Autumn Festival Gala_1
The 2024 annual meeting and Mid-Autumn Festival celebration organized by the Zhongshan Medical East/New York Alumni Association brought together over 150 alumni, guests, and friends from Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, and five boroughs of New York. On a lovely autumn day with the sun shining and a refreshing breeze, the spacious banquet hall at the Cuiyuan Restaurant in Brooklyn was filled with attendees of all ages, from senior alumni in their 90s to toddlers just two years old, all there to enjoy the festivities.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Yinqi Peng, the master of ceremonies, followed by remarks from Dr. Liang Weining, the president of the Zhongshan Medical New York Alumni Association and vice president of the Eastern U.S. Alumni Association. Dr. Zhu Zichao, the chief advisor and secretary-general of the Eastern U.S. Alumni Association, introduced the main guests, sponsors, and key leaders from the alumni network. Representing the hosts, Dr. Sun Ying delivered a speech on behalf of the Zhongshan Medical East Alumni Association, while Dr. Mo Wenzhong represented the guests. Other alumni, including Dr. Shi Hong and former New York Alumni Association vice president Dr. Zhou Bingliu, also took to the stage to share heartfelt memories, celebrate current achievements, express gratitude to sponsors, and wish for lasting prosperity. The event concluded with a sincere thank-you from Dr. Deng Ruier, the vice president of the Eastern U.S. Alumni Association, to all the sponsors and alumni who contributed.
The opening of this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival celebration was particularly unique, featuring the drawing of two grand prizes donated by the Eastern and New York Alumni Associations. Additionally, 80 raffle prizes were announced through the alumni’s WeChat group, interspersed between an array of delicious dishes and captivating performances by talented alumni who sang, recited poetry, and danced. A two-year-old named Chen Xiaoyou bravely took the stage to recite beautiful classical Chinese poetry, while an octogenarian alumni member led the audience in a chorus. Esteemed photographer and alumni member Xie Bingxu auctioned off two award-winning photographs from a New York exhibition, providing attendees with a thrilling bidding experience while they appreciated the artwork.
