On-site commentary on current affairs丨Steady progress, intensive work, and new achievements in expanding high-level opening up to the outside world
On the morning of October 16, President Xi Jinping visited the Xiamen area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone. During his visit, he explored an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the free trade zone and engaged in discussions about local efforts to expand reform and opening-up, as well as to explore new pathways for cross-strait integration. He also interacted with the staff at the comprehensive service hall.
Since its establishment on April 21, 2015, the Xiamen area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone has covered a total area of 43.78 square kilometers and introduced 606 innovative measures. Among these, 142 are national firsts, while 31 reform pilot experiences have been recognized and replicated across the country by the State Council. Furthermore, five exemplary cases have been designated as “best practice” models for other free trade zones in China.
The visit by President Xi has greatly inspired all the builders of the Xiamen free trade zone. They expressed their commitment to remembering the President’s directives and their determination to construct a higher-level free trade zone. Their goal is to pave the way for Xiamen to achieve socialist modernization ahead of others through exploration and experimentation.
