On October 14, the “Walking China, Reporting China” 2024 Overseas Chinese Media Journey in Jiangxi kicked off in Nanchang. This event gathers 22 senior editors and reporters from Chinese media outlets across 18 countries and regions on five continents. Over the course of a week, they will embark on a collaborative reporting journey in Nanchang, Jiujiang, Ji’an, and other locations.
The event was co-hosted by the China News Service, the World Chinese Media Cooperation Alliance, and the Jiangxi International Communication Center, with the overseas center of China News Service and the Jiangxi branch handling the organization.
Present at the launch were Guo Ligen, Deputy Minister of the Jiangxi Provincial Publicity Department and Director of the Provincial Cyberspace Administration, and Xu Bo, Deputy Minister of the Provincial United Front Work Department. Huang Wanlin, President of Jiangxi Daily and Party Secretary and Chairman of Jiangxi Newspaper Media Group, and Wu Qingcai, editorial committee member of China News Service and Editor-in-Chief of China News Network, both delivered speeches.
Huang Wanlin noted that Jiangxi is renowned for its literary heritage and abundance of natural resources, calling it a land rich in history and cultural significance, deeply woven with revolutionary memories. He encouraged the participating journalists to capture the ecological beauty, cultural richness, and developmental potential of Jiangxi from various angles and perspectives, aiming to share the province’s appealing landscapes and vibrant culture with the world.
Wu Qingcai emphasized Jiangxi’s distinctive red heritage, stunning landscapes, and rich historical culture. He highlighted the dual strengths of red and green—symbolizing the province’s revolutionary legacy and environmental assets. Wu expressed hope that the participating Chinese-language media would leverage their international influence to bring the stories of Jiangxi to a global audience with unique insights and vivid narratives.
The journey promises to not only provide overseas Chinese media with a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insights into Jiangxi but also inject new vitality into promoting the province’s culture internationally and fostering cultural exchanges between China and the world.
